This picture was taken in late July while I was road-riding on north Fairfield in the town of Wauconda. After taking the Gilmer underpass and traveling down the road a mile or so before hitting up the Millennium Trail on Bonner Road, I passed by this wetland area. It was hard to tell if it is a lake or a pond, but there are plenty of plants and creatures inhabiting the area.
The openness of the area of itself allows one to see for miles. The howling wind was blowing the nearby trees and grass, causing them to sway, but their strong foundations allowed them to hold on and stand firm. Not just nature, but a solid metaphor for life.
The winds of change will try their best to uproot you while you are weak, which makes the development of a strong foundation more important than you realize.
