This picture was taken last Sunday afternoon at Starved Rock State Park in Utica, IL. I had heard so much about this unbelievable place from so many people, but never quite got around to making my way out there. Fate decided that this particular day was the right time for me to go, so off I went. The park is conveniently located next to the Illinois River and is loaded with the most amazing scenery, including tall trees and amazing rock formations. It is a hikers paradise, as the trails go on for miles and there is no shortage of things to look at, rocks to jump on, and areas to relax.
This particular snap shot was of Tonty Canyon, which is one of the nicer scenes in the whole park. It took some effort to get back here, but capturing this shot was so worth it. The crazy thing is, had I not made the decision to step outside the boundary and take a risk, there is no way I would have known how beautiful this shot would be. This notion applies to life as well. There is true beauty in nearly everything you come across, but it takes leaving your comfort zone, looking beyond the surface, the willingness and strength to deal with the tougher path, and a little bit of luck to see it. If you are willing to go through all of this, you might just find exactly what you were looking for all along.
Always look for the beauty in everything.
