This picture was taken in August of 2013 on my way home from a weekend trip to the Wisconsin Dells. The setting, Devil’s Lake State Park in Baraboo, WI, is one of my favorite hiking spots in the entire world. While it is 140 miles north and by no means a conveniently-located escape, I do enjoy every single trip I make there. Being able to take in the wilderness and climb on rocks all day, and I literally mean all day, is something that brings me a lot of joy.
This particular snapshot is a close up of the lake itself, in addition to rocky, tree-filled hills that cover the landscape, and of course, the beautiful sky. The water is so clear that you can nearly see the sky’s reflection in it, which is so typical of being up north. So much of this land remains in its natural state, which is how it will always stay.
Being in the outdoors is something that brings me so much happiness and puts the biggest smile on my face. I live for things like that. I am so grateful for every single day I get and I know things will only get better the more I live out the plan the Lord has for me. Sights like this let me know that He is watching over me and that He wants to see me happy too.
