Hey all! It has been such an eventful week with everything going on. Working, baseball practice, continuing to develop and move forward with the brand, seeing friends, celebrating my 26th birthday, and every day life events has made the past several days fly by in the best way possible. For this post, I want to keep things short and sweet, but make no mistake, the subject matter is a very serious issue that many of us deal with on a day-to-day basis. I’m talking about second guessing ourselves when it comes to both minor and major decisions we make in our lives.
Second guessing ourselves can be first nature sometimes. We know what we want to do, but while we are in the process of making that first decision, we hear that all too familiar voice in the back of our heads telling us why this or that will not work. “I have not even made an initial decision yet, how can I already be contradicting myself”, we say in frustration. I do not know why this is the case, but for reasons not immediately thought of, we allow the world around us to get in the way of what we actually want to do. We allow the world to get in the way of our gut feeling. It may have to do with being uncomfortable with risk or fearing being a failure. It may be that we care too much about what other people think or how they are going to look at us. Whatever the reason may be, our second guessing acts as a barrier to our happiness and we need to make it stop.
How do we combat this issue? Listen to yourself, your intuition, your gut, or whatever you want to call it. What is the worst that could happen? You fall on your face. You lose some money. Someone laughs at you or looks at you differently. What many of us fail to realize is that the risks we take by listening to our guts will never result in failure. We either succeed in what we were trying to do or we learn a lesson from what went wrong and build on it. I am a notorious second guesser and it has left me wondering “what if” more times than I can count. Since I made the decision to go with my gut more, I am getting to the places I need to be in life and you will too. It is just about making the decision to start.
Thank you to everyone who has been so supportive of the Trailblazerry brand in its developmental stages. Hoping to have a site and some products up in the next couple of weeks! Stay tuned!
